Cordless Convenience

September 20, 2006

While Skype phones are abundant in the market today, some stand out because of their cool features.  Their common ground though is that with this phone, users can make cheap phone calls over the internet.  With the passing of time, more and more Skype phones are being released into the market for the public’s consumption.  One of these phones is Keyspan’s Cordless VoIP phone recently released.

This phone is compatible with either PC or Mac platforms, but this technology is nothing new. Several Skype phones out there employ this technology.  What sets this phone apart from the rest is that it is a cordless one.  Meaning it gives the user to be free to move around he house or the office.  Imagine multi-tasking while making calls, you can be more productive with this kind of phone.  You won’t need to stand around in a corner of the house or the office while talking on the phone.

Imagine the possibilities, and if you are a busy person who needs to accomplish a lot of things, this phone is for you.

Skype phone for Japan

September 18, 2006

Japan has been always known for technology, and with the release of Logitec’s (that’s not a misprint, it really has no H ) Wi-fi  phone, Japanese Skype users has now another phone to watch out for.  This will only be released in Japan and will use either 802.11b or g to place its calls.

And like some Skype phones already out in the global market, this phone is equipped with Bluetooth technology enabling the user to use it as a handset for their computer.  But what advantage one may gain from this feature is still unclear.  The release of this new Wi-fi phone shows again how much VoIP technology has grown with the passing of time.  While these phones released today may have the same features, companies are already working on how to produce phones much much better than this one.  This tech revolution could only be good for the ever growing global consumer public.

Two new cordless Skype phones introduced

September 15, 2006

Skype recently announced the development of two new Skype phones which gives the user freedom from being physically connected to a computer, both of them using a DECT base station that is attached directly to either broadband or POTS lines.

One is from Philips, the VOIP841 and the other one from Netgear. Both phones according to Skype features a full-color graphic display, simplified calling controls, an integrated contact list and an enhanced speakerphone with great voice clarity.
The Philips phone utilises Linux as its OS like the previously released cordless videophone from the same company, the VP5500. But unlike the VOIP841, the videophone uses Wi-fi as its wireless connection.
On the on the other hand, Netgear’s phone’s OS was not revealed by the company claiming that those are proprietary information that they do not disclose openly.
Nevertheless, the public would have to watch out for these two new phones, which will enable them to make and receive web calls.

Plantronics Cordless Telephone Headset

September 13, 2006

Plantronics have been coming up with great products; one of this is the CS10 Cordless Headset System.  This headset utilises both the 900 MHz cordless CA10 amplifier and the convertible noise cancelling headset to provide user with a hands-free device worthy of every penny.
It has a respectable range of up to 150 feet from the base unit and can connect with either single or multi-line corded telephones.  Convenience for the user is pretty much in the minds of the developers, receiving and ending a call is as simple as pressing a single button with the optional Plantronics HL10 Lifter.
It features an adjustable tone control and transmits and receives volume giving the user the ultimate in sound quality.  One minus about this headset is that it only has up to 6 hours of talk time on a full charge.  Overall though, this device does what its supposed to do and for those not too picky customers, this may do just fine.

Cordless Phone Innovation

September 11, 2006

With the influx of cordless phones in the market today, choosing the right one may be a tough job.  All of these units are packed with awesome features that make Skype calls more enjoyable.  One of this is the DECT 6.0 Pay N’ talk Phone with an integrated answering machine.  It seems that developers never run out of idea and it’s good for us, this new product shows how ingenious developers out there can be.

This base station accommodates up to 4 wireless handsets.  A feature of this which really stands out is that you can check messages from any of the handsets instead of from the base only.  The phone provides a respectable range of 900 ft., a 40-number speed-dial phonebook, a 20-number caller ID log, handset speakerphone, and a recording capacity of up to 24 incoming messages.  Not a bad deal considering other wireless phones in the market today.
